    About Biesiespan

Peet Barnard farms with Dorpers on Biesiespan outside Phillipstown. He has been farming for 5 years and also owns a supermarket called Funchal Supermarket in De Aar. He was a manager at Pep Stores for 27 years and learned many business principles which he can now apply to his farming business.

His family has farmed for generations and then stopped at his father. The farm is a reward and milestone in his life, through many hardships and hard work he bought the farm and started farming again and so created a future for his son.

A farmer must deal with his farming as a business otherwise he will not be productive and go forward. It takes a lot of hard work and patience to get the meat on your table. You should pray for rain every day and pray that the predators won’t catch your sheep. You should also do your work and maintain the fences and look after your field, this way you add value to your farm.

Peet farms for his offspring, his son Herman Barnard also help on the farm and are very interested in farming. Peet manages his farm in the right and respective way, and believes that one should leave the farm in a better condition and always try to improve it.

His achievement is his farm in the Karoo. He started off slow and had to work very hard, but now after 12 years he achieved success. Farmers should be proud of what they have because you can be your own boss and work in a beautiful environment like the Karoo.
