    About Luckhof

Mike is a foreman for the Creator, the piece of land is only borrowed and he must take care of it. He farms with organic Dorpers that is hormone free. The limestone soil on the farm provides high nutritional value to the bushes and water therefore the lamb produced on this farm is full of nutrients and dietary supplements which are perfect for the consumer. Karoo lamb is perfect for a braai or a Sunday leg of lamb lunch; you haven’t tasted pure Karoo lamb till you’ve tasted the lamb produced on Luckhoff. He farms and Luckhoff and Saailaagte as a unit.

Mike is an active member of the Farmers Association and believes that a farmer must stay informed about their environment and to maintain your field and animals. A farmer must not live higher than the shrubs, live conservative and plan your lifestyle according to your income.

People had previously farmed with sheep and corn and baked their own bread. The wheat was delivered to the Vleiskorporasie. The Karoo is Mike and Elna's life, they make a living from it, he is his own boss and it gives him lots of freedom. They live close to nature and his wife Elna love gardening.

He believes that you have to restore the land to its natural form and work sparingly with water, love your animals, provide and care for them as God provides for you. Then you will be truly blessed.

“Daar sal nog eendag mense wees

Daar ver in die ou Karoo

Wat sawens nog hul Bybel lees

    En in sy Boodskap glo”

A.G Visser (Elna's great-grandmother Gezie Wilhelmina Vermeulen was AG Visser's sister)
